On the night of October 13, Hezbollah launched a drone attack targeting an Israeli military training base located south of Haifa. A poignant image captured on the same day shows a man walking with crutches next to the ruins of Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon.
According to reports, on October 14, Hezbollah intensified its operations with a large-scale drone assault on a military base near Binyamina in northern Israel, resulting in the deaths of four Israeli soldiers and injuring over 60 others. This attack marks one of the deadliest drone strikes by Hezbollah against Israel since the recent escalation of hostilities.
The Guardian noted that before these attacks, Israel’s N12 television stated that the Golani Brigade, active in the Haifa region, had sustained at least 67 injuries during the assault. IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari confirmed the casualties from Hezbollah’s attack, including seven individuals who were seriously injured.
CNN reported that Hezbollah claimed the drone operation was a response to Israeli airstrikes on October 10 that resulted in 22 deaths and 117 injuries in Lebanon.
The New York Times highlighted that as of 3 PM local time on October 13, the IDF confirmed that Hezbollah had fired approximately 115 rockets or missiles. This incident not only underscores Hezbollah’s tenacity but also raises concerns about vulnerabilities within Israel’s air defense systems.
As reported by Central News Agency, Hezbollah, backed by Iran, stated they deployed a squadron of attack drones against a training camp in Binyamina as retaliation for what they described as assaults by Zionists.
On the same day, Israel conducted airstrikes in densely populated areas of Beirut, specifically in the Basta and Nweiri neighborhoods, leading to the casualties mentioned. Hezbollah reiterated that the recent wave of drone strikes was a direct response to Israeli actions, including the attacks from October 10.
