The 2024 Beijing Sub-Center Green Development Forum is set to take place from October 26 to 28, featuring the theme “Cultivating New Quality Productive Forces, Inspiring New Green Momentum.” The event will include a grand opening and closing ceremony, along with a comprehensive schedule of 16 specialized activities organized under the “1+5+10” framework. This includes one Green Industry Expo (referred to as the Green Expo), five themed events, and ten parallel forums, totaling 18 activities. Over 100 renowned experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and representatives from various sectors will attend and participate with keynote speeches.

This information was shared during a media briefing on October 18 regarding the forum.

Since its inception in 2019, the Beijing Sub-Center Green Development Forum has emerged as a distinctive brand event representing the sub-center. It aims to establish a model for green initiatives, support the vision of a greener Beijing, promote regional collaborative development, and enhance communication and cooperation for a beautiful China. The forum seeks to create a comprehensive platform for green development that serves the needs of the capital in the new era, while fostering international cooperation in green initiatives and facilitating market-based development of green industries. To date, the forum has successfully hosted four editions.

The upcoming forum is co-organized by the Party Working Committee and Management Committee of the Beijing Sub-Center, along with the Tongzhou District Committee and local government, with support from the Municipal Development and Reform Commission. The Beijing Sub-Center Green Development Research Institute and Beitou Group will handle the event’s organization. Notably, this year marks the first Green Expo, which will span approximately 4,000 square meters. It will feature exhibition areas dedicated to green energy, sustainable building materials, green tourism, eco-friendly living, low-altitude economy, smart manufacturing, and prefabricated construction, with participation from over 60 exhibiting companies, aimed at clustering the green development industry and stimulating new growth energy.

The forum will unveil new policies, including the launch of the “Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of an International Benchmark City for Green Economy in Beijing,” enriched by a dedicated sub-forum for in-depth policy discussion. Through five themed activities and ten parallel forums, the event will invite renowned domestic and international experts, as well as emerging scholars, to share the latest insights and research findings on green development. This creates a unique platform for stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and research to engage in discussions, exchange ideas, and foster collaboration within the green industry, all to advance green economic growth.

Additionally, the forum will introduce new topics and practical scenarios. It will present the preliminary results of the 2023 research projects on green development in the sub-center, facilitating timely application of these findings to support innovative green development scenarios. Furthermore, the 2024 research project list for green development in the sub-center will be released, providing intellectual support for addressing the challenges faced in establishing national green development demonstration zones.
