In an exclusive interview, we caught up with the organizers of the release event for the “Three Rivers Source National Park Nature Education Series” and the themed sharing session on “Harmonious Coexistence Between Humanity and Nature.” This significant event took place in Beijing on October 12, marking the third anniversary of the establishment of China’s first national parks.
The “Three Rivers Source National Park Nature Education Series” represents the first comprehensive collection of educational materials dedicated to a national park in China. This series includes 27 books across seven sub-categories, including a comprehensive guide to the national park, a natural science encyclopedia, a collection on rare species, travel journals, an ecological culture collection, nature education texts, and 3D illustrated books. These efforts are led by the management office of the Three Rivers Source National Park in collaboration with the China Map Publishing Group.
The series aims to showcase the diverse ecosystems, unique landscapes, and rich biodiversity of the Three Rivers Source National Park. It highlights the notable achievements made since the park’s establishment in terms of ecological civilization construction, ongoing ecosystem protection and restoration projects, and the integrity of natural ecosystems, all while promoting shared access to nature and cultural resources.
During the launch, the organizers stressed the importance of this publication as a concrete step toward establishing a nationally representative and globally influential model for nature conservation. It aims to meet the public’s growing demand for high-quality ecological products and to enhance the park’s ecological, scientific, cultural, and public welfare values. This initiative is intended to foster a deeper societal understanding of ecological civilization and build a sustainable foundation for the Chinese nation’s future.
Furthermore, the themed sharing session featured esteemed experts and scholars from institutions such as Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Forestry University, and Qinghai Normal University. They engaged in thorough discussions on topics like nature education, ecological civilization outreach, and wildlife protection, sharing stories of coexistence between humanity and nature in the Three Rivers Source region.
In conjunction with the event, the Three Rivers Source National Park management and the editorial team also visited Beijing’s No. 15 High School to promote nature education among students. They presented the “Nature Education Reader for the Three Rivers Source National Park” to students and teachers, aiming to inspire young minds to learn about the park and engage with nature conservation efforts.
