China strongly condemns terrorist attack on Chinese vehicles at Port Qasim coal-fired power station

During a press briefing on October 7, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed profound shock and strong condemnation of a recent terror attack on Chinese vehicles at the Kaskas port coal-fired power plant.

When questioned about reports of the attack in Sindh province, Pakistan, which resulted in casualties among Chinese nationals, the spokesperson shared critical details. The attack took place around 11 PM local time on October 6, near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, and specifically targeted vehicles linked to a Chinese enterprise. Tragically, two Chinese citizens lost their lives, and another was injured in the incident.

The spokesperson extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and highlighted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Chinese embassy and consulates in Pakistan, had activated emergency protocols to respond promptly to the situation. The spokesperson underscored the importance of Pakistani authorities ensuring efficient medical care for the injured, conducting a thorough investigation, apprehending those responsible, and enforcing strict legal penalties.

Additionally, they emphasized the critical need to address security vulnerabilities and implement more targeted measures to protect the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, as well as the safety of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions in Pakistan. The embassy has urgently advised Chinese citizens and businesses in the country to remain vigilant, enhance their security measures, and take necessary precautions.

The spokesperson reiterated that terrorism poses a threat to all humanity and asserted that any efforts by terrorists to undermine the mutual trust and cooperation between China and Pakistan, along with the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, would ultimately fail. China remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s counter-terrorism initiatives and aims to collaborate in thwarting any attempts to damage their bilateral relations.
