The weekend before Halloween, Bay Area closed streets for lively celebrations and trick-or-treating

As Halloween approaches, various cities around the Bay Area are gearing up for candy-throwing street events on the weekend before the holiday. With Halloween falling on a weekday this year, many shopping districts are seizing the opportunity to host a variety of fun activities, drawing in families and creating a lively atmosphere in the businesses. Additionally, these temporary street closures provide a safe space for parents to enjoy the festivities with their children.

1. **Menlo Park**
Menlo Park will host its “Halloween Hoopla” on October 26th from 11 AM to 2 PM in the downtown area. The festivities kick off with a Halloween costume parade at 11 AM, where participants can enjoy cheer from the crowd as they make their way along the main shopping street to Fremont Park. The park will feature numerous fun game booths for kids, while local businesses will also participate in a “trick-or-treat” event.

2. **Mountain View**
On October 26th from 1 PM to 5 PM, Mountain View will hold a street party on Castro Street. Fifteen shops will be handing out candy and small gifts along the street. Notably, the Montle Carlo restaurant will transform into a family-friendly haunted house from 2 PM to 6 PM, inviting kids and adults alike to enter for free and enjoy the spooky ambience.

3. **Campbell**
Highly regarded for its Halloween spirit, Campbell’s downtown area will host its annual main event on October 27th from 4 PM to 6 PM, themed “Creepy Crawly Halloween Trick-or-Treat.” The event promises plenty of candy distributed by local shops and showcases unique Halloween costumes. Organizers are urging visitors to prepare for large crowds and challenging parking conditions, especially for families with sensitive children and pets.

4. **Santana Row**
One of the most well-known street parties will occur during the week at Santana Row in San Jose. This candy distribution event is scheduled for October 29th from 10 AM to 12 PM. Though only two hours long, it typically attracts numerous preschool-aged children. Most shops will also participate in costume-themed giveaways, and performers will be on hand to entertain, blowing bubbles and creating photo opportunities that enhance the Halloween spirit.
