On October 18, the Hainan Provincial News Office held a press conference to announce that the Paris Boulogne Children’s Choir will travel to Hainan from October 24 to 30 to participate in the 2024 “Bridge of Friendship” activities in Wuzhishan. They will perform alongside the Wuzhishan Li and Miao Children’s Choir, continuing the musical bond between China and France.
In May of this year, the Wuzhishan Li and Miao Children’s Choir visited France for a cultural exchange, performing the song “Sing Wuzhishan to France” in Paris. Their collaboration with the Paris Boulogne Children’s Choir helped establish a musical bridge of friendship between the two nations. Now, five months later, the French choir has been invited to Hainan, where both choirs will perform together for the first time, creating a “Harmony of Friendship” in Hainan.
From October 24 to 27, the two choirs will hold three performances at the Hainan Provincial Song and Dance Theater, Hainan University, and Maona Village in Wuzhishan. The Paris Boulogne Children’s Choir will sing pieces including “If I Go to China,” “Les Choristes,” “Castle in the Sky,” and “The Little Prince.” Meanwhile, the Wuzhishan Li and Miao Children’s Choir will perform “Sing Wuzhishan to France,” “Rainforest Time,” “Friendship Lasts Forever,” and “Water Full Ballad,” allowing audiences to experience the rich cultural flavors of both nations.
Additionally, the Paris Boulogne Children’s Choir will engage in cultural exchange activities in Haikou, Wuzhishan, and Danzhou, immersing themselves in the charm of Hainan’s rainforest ecology and cultural heritage, and appreciating the beauty of Chinese culture.
Founded in 1994, the Paris Boulogne Children’s Choir consists of over 40 children aged seven to 15. The choir has previously performed in countries such as the UK, Italy, and Switzerland, and has participated in renowned productions including the opera “Carmen,” the musical “The Lord of the Rings,” and the children’s play “Alice in Wonderland.” Their rendition of “If I Go to China” sparked a wave of interest in China across Europe, fostering deeper Sino-French friendship.
