On October 17th, the Changchun Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television and Tourism held a press conference to announce the 2024 “Changchun Gifts” Collection Competition. The aim of the competition is to uncover regional cultural characteristics and explore new consumer scenarios, industries, and models.
According to Li Zhen, the Director of the Industry Development Department at the Bureau, “Changchun Gifts” is a classic intellectual property of the city’s creative products, cultivated with care since its establishment in 2017. This initiative has garnered widespread recognition and affection from consumers, evolving into a significant cultural tourism brand within the region. The program has formed collaborations with 128 enterprises both within Jilin Province and in other cities, launching over 600 creative products that include items from long-established brands and modern technological innovations. This effort has effectively promoted cultural tourism consumption, enhanced the consumer experience, and propelled economic development, offering citizens and tourists a more diverse and high-quality cultural experience.
The current competition calls for submissions across four major categories. The traditional crafts category includes innovations in traditional crafts; the memorial and derivative products category covers red cultural creations, exclusive souvenirs from tourist attractions, cultural relic derivatives, as well as derivatives from industries like sports and products tied to major events. The regional specialty products category includes goods from time-honored brands and local specialties; the culture and technology creative products category features lifestyle innovations, tech fashion items, and artistic derivatives.
Shen Di, General Manager of Changchun Gifts Trading Co., stated that winning products will be included in the “Changchun Gifts” product catalog, receiving official certification, and the right to be showcased in the “Changchun Gifts” flagship stores, both online and offline. Winners will also gain exposure at major cultural and tourism festival events, priority in governmental and corporate procurement recommendations, dedicated promotional support, preferred access to product upgrades, and advance nomination for cultural tourism vouchers.
In anticipation of the ice and snow season, the “Changchun Gifts” initiative will introduce a range of winter-themed products, including plush toys featuring the Northeast tiger, decorations, backpacks, hats, scarves, and new items like snow-themed paper-cut lamps and refrigerator magnets.
This year’s competition will select 20 winning products, with the winners’ list scheduled for announcement in early to mid-December.
