The Guangxi Procuratorate prosecuted Wu Yirong for suspected bribery in accordance with the law

On October 17th, a report from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate’s official Weibo account revealed that Wu Yirong, the former member of the standing committee and vice-chairman of the Political Consultative Conference in Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is facing charges of bribery. The case has been concluded by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Supervisory Commission and has been handed over to the prosecuting authorities for review and prosecution.

Designated by the People’s Procuratorate of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Yulin City People’s Procuratorate has formally initiated prosecution against Wu Yirong in the Yulin Intermediate People’s Court. The case is currently under further investigation.

During the prosecution phase, the procuratorate informed Wu Yirong of his legal rights and conducted an inquiry, also considering input from his defense team. The charges brought forward by the Yulin City People’s Procuratorate allege that Wu Yirong, while holding various positions including Deputy County Governor of Pingguo County, Deputy County Governor of Tiandong County, Director of the Baise Sports Bureau, and County Mayor and Party Secretary of Lingyun County, exploited his official roles to provide benefits to others, unlawfully accepting substantial financial gains. He is therefore facing criminal charges for bribery.
