On October 15, a joint army training exercise named “Thunder-2024” commenced in Kunming, Yunnan, marking the seventh iteration of the “Thunder” series between China and Thailand.
The focus of this joint exercise is on coordinated counter-terrorism operations, which will include training scenarios such as manned and unmanned collaboration, special explosives, helicopter insertions, and joint search-and-destroy missions. The aim is to enhance the capabilities of both militaries in joint operations and contribute positively to regional stability.
Following the opening ceremony, Thai officers observed a demonstration of assassination drills conducted by Chinese troops and had hands-on experience with various Chinese equipment, including light weapons, unmanned combat systems, and reconnaissance tools.
During the joint training, both sides plan to engage in instructional sessions on reconnaissance equipment and combined manned-unmanned operations. They will also visit a national anti-terrorism training base for further training exchanges. The exercise will continue until October 25, and participants from both armies will engage in a series of cultural exchange activities to strengthen their longstanding friendship.
