Global Yushan Technology Association President Hu Li-min is set to lead a discussion on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into our daily lives and work environments. As the AI era unfolds, many are eager to gain a deeper understanding of what AI truly entails. The Peninsula Moms’ Learning Center will host a tech seminar titled “How AI Technology Integrates into Life and Work” on October 18.
Hu, a former president of the Silicon Valley Chinese American Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of Friends of Children with Special Needs, boasts extensive experience in startups and execution. He also founded the nonprofit organization Friends of Children with Special Needs. In 1998, he co-founded a fintech company, Ellie Mae, Inc., which focuses on SaaS and cloud solutions, revolutionizing mortgage automation in the U.S. The company acquired nine tech firms, went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2011, and was later sold to a U.S. private equity tech firm for $3.8 billion in 2019.
In 2002, Hu raised $3 million to establish the Friends of Children with Special Needs Center (FCSN) in Fremont, where he served as chairman for six consecutive terms. FCSN now operates three centers in the Bay Area with over 100 employees, providing essential services to hundreds of children and adults with special needs.
Currently, Hu’s ventures span nonprofit organizations, startups, real estate, and the Japanese supermarket Osaka Marketplace. During his upcoming seminar, he will analyze how AI technologies—such as smart homes, personalized recommendations (like Netflix), autonomous driving, health management, translation, VR/AR, financial management, education, and ChatGPT—are becoming part of our everyday realities. He aims to share insights from both investment and educational perspectives, reflecting on his personal experiences.
