Mississippi bridge collapsed, killing 3 and seriously injuring 4, demolition worker fell 12 meters_1

On October 16, a bridge collapse in Simpson County, Mississippi resulted in three fatalities and four serious injuries. Reports indicate that the incident occurred during demolition work when the structure unexpectedly failed, sending individuals plummeting nearly 40 feet.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation has confirmed that the collapse took place at the site of State Route 149 over the Strong River. At this time, the cause of the collapse remains unclear.

Local coroner officials reported that two bodies were recovered around 7:30 PM on the night of the incident, while search efforts for a third victim continued.

According to the department, the bridge had been closed since September 18 due to ongoing replacement work. Notably, an inspector from the department was present at the site during the collapse and fortunately escaped without injury.
