Israel’s land and air raid on Gaza refugee camp kills at least 29, medical staff say

On October 11, residents of Gaza held funerals for the victims of the Israeli attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp. Medical personnel in the Gaza Strip reported that the ongoing Israeli offensive resulted in at least 29 Palestinian deaths that day, as the military continued to intensify its operations in the northern Jabalia area. International relief organizations have indicated that thousands of people are trapped in the region.

Residents in the area described the relentless assault from Israeli forces, which has been targeting the Jabalia refugee camp—the largest in the Gaza Strip—from both land and air.

Israeli strikes hit two buildings in Jabalia, as well as the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, resulting in the reported fatalities. Medical staff cautioned that the death toll could rise, as many of the wounded are in critical condition.

The Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for two neighborhoods in northern Gaza City, designating these areas as “dangerous combat zones.”

In response, the Palestinian Islamic organization Hamas urged residents not to relocate from the northern areas or head south, warning that “the occupying forces continue to carry out bombings and killings every day in the south, which they claim is safe.”

According to Palestinian health officials, approximately 150 people in Jabalia have died in the past week due to the Israeli offensive.
