On October 8, Hohhot Airport released information revealing that it served a total of 305,000 passengers during the National Day holiday period from October 1 to October 7.
According to airport officials, the surge in passenger traffic this holiday was largely fueled by tourism and family visits. They noted that October 1 and October 6 were particularly busy days, with these dates marking the peak for departures and returns, respectively.
Throughout this bustling holiday, Hohhot Airport operated 2,548 flights, averaging 364 flights per day. This impressive operation allowed them to handle 305,000 passengers, or about 44,000 travelers each day. Most of the passengers traveling within Inner Mongolia were headed to cities such as Chifeng, Hailar, Tongliao, Xilin Hot, and Ulanhot. Meanwhile, those flying in from outside Inner Mongolia primarily came from major cities including Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenyang, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Wuhan.
To improve the travel experience for passengers, the airport made strategic flight upgrades during the holiday. They replaced several flights to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Urumqi with wide-body aircraft like the A330 or B787 on select dates. Additionally, routes to cities such as Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Shenzhen, and Xiamen received upgrades to larger A321 aircraft, which can accommodate around 200 passengers, in response to the increased demand.
