On October 15th, in Beijing, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Australian Senate President Ryan.
During the meeting, Han emphasized that this year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s successful state visit to Australia and the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that both China and Australia are vital nations in the Asia-Pacific region, and strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership aligns with the common interests of both nations. It also contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. Han expressed China’s willingness to work closely with Australia to implement the key consensus reached by their leaders, upholding the original intentions of their diplomatic relations, maintaining independence and autonomy, and engaging in mutually beneficial cooperation. He stated that together, they could build a more mature and stable comprehensive strategic partnership that brings positive contributions to peace and development in both the region and the world.
In response, Ryan expressed that his visit allowed him to personally experience the vibrancy and achievements of China’s development. He noted that the close cooperation between Australia and China is beneficial for their peoples. He emphasized that the Australian Parliament is committed to promoting the sustained and stable development of Australia-China relations, striving to be equal partners.
