On the night of September 21, Birmingham, Alabama, experienced a devastating shooting incident in the vibrant Five Points South entertainment district. Eyewitness reports suggest that multiple shooters opened fire on a crowd, leading to the tragic loss of four lives and leaving dozens injured.
In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Birmingham Police Department confirmed their rapid response to reports of a large shooting. Upon arrival, officers found several individuals shot and many others who may have been injured.
According to ABC News affiliate WBMA, at least four people have died as a result of the shooting, with numerous others sustaining injuries, some in critical condition.
The chaos unfolded around 11 PM in the busy Five Points South area. Among the four victims, three were declared dead at the scene, while the fourth victim later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
As of now, investigators have not made any arrests but suspect that multiple individuals were involved in the shooting. Authorities are also examining whether one of the firearms used was fitted with a “switch,” a modification that enables semi-automatic weapons to fire in rapid succession.
