12 cities to host country music festivals

On October 14, reporters learned from the National Radio and Television Administration’s China Broadcast Television Social Organization Union that the “Rural Music Festival: A Journey of Artistic Performances” event recently kicked off in Beijing. This initiative is guided by the Union and organized by the China Agricultural Film and Television Association in collaboration with Beijing Yangxuan Cultural Media Co., Ltd.

At the press conference held on October 11, the launch of the “Rural Music Festival” was announced as a key component of this event. As a unique cultural platform, the Rural Music Festival aims to engage a broader audience in the development, communication, and preservation of rural culture, further enriching rural communities and enhancing their visibility and reputation.

The Rural Music Festival will feature preliminary rounds in over 200 cities and counties across various rural cultural squares and scenic spots. Participants will include rural artists, students, and individuals knowledgeable about agricultural practices. They can register through the official website, WeChat public accounts, or designated registration points within local village committees and cultural stations. Contestants will advance to the semifinals based on scores from the judges. Ultimately, the competition will recruit participants from 12 city-level locations across the country to host the “Rural Music Festival,” with each city planning to hold two events.

In addition to the main festival, the initiative will also feature complementary activities such as a food festival and a Chinese Rural Quality Products Fair in the host cities, spanning 2-3 days. Influencers will be invited to participate in live-streamed sales events, promoting rural consumption and supporting local economies.
